Sawmill

After years of wanting a sawmill, we finally pulled the trigger in 2021. At that time, it took about 6-8 months to get the mill. We settled on a WoodMizer LX25 since a dealer is 45 minutes away.

If you plan on getting into milling, expect a steep learning curve if you are new to it. No matter how much you watch and read, you still have to have trial and error. I spent a lot of time on YouTube learning how to be a sawyer and have had days of head-scratching trying to figure out why my cants weren't square or why they were wavy.

Having the mill and access to logs has been a game changer around the property. From cutting the studs for our garage to siding for the horse shelter we've put it to good use. I was worried when we bought it that I wouldn't have enough projects to make it worth it; I'll let you know if that happens(it hasn’t yet).
